Mark is a Registered Shiatsu Practitioner and Qigong teacher and is registered with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain as an A grade (Advanced) instructor.  Mark lives in Wookey Hole, Somerset and has established Shiatsu practices in Wells, Bath and Nunney, as well as teaching Qigong across Somerset and beyond.

Mark developed an interest in Oriental philosophy, whilst studying for a degree in Environmental Science. He went on to learn Tai Chi and has practiced Tai Chi and Qigong since the mid 1980’s. Over the years he has studied with the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Great Britain, founded by Master Moy Lin Shin, Dr. Paul Tien (Original Yang style school of Tai Chi),  Sifu Michael Tse and Chris Jarmey. Since 2008 Mark has continued to study the Taoist arts with Damo Mitchell of Lotus Neigong.

Mark took
a 3-year diploma course at The Shiatsu School in Manchester, qualifying as a Shiatsu practitioner in 1997, and becoming a Member of the Register of the Shiatsu Society (MRSS) in 1999. In 2010 Mark completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning with The Shiatsu College. As well as running his own busy Shiatsu practice, Mark is a trained mentor with the Shiatsu Society (UK).In 2018 as a long standing member of the Shiatsu Society he became a Fellow of the Society (FwSS).

Mark is highly regarded for his extensive knowledge of oriental healing arts, his combination of innovation with a respect for tradition, and his calm, supportive approach.  He is committed to using his skills to help those in need, and as well as his regular classes, he has taught Qigong to prison inmates, young homeless people, patients in a psychiatric unit, and people with Parkinson’s disease.  Mark also provides health and wellbeing services to the corporate sector as an associate for Saltbox Training & Events Ltd, and teaches each year at Marlborough College Summer School.

Mark enjoys living close to nature, and his work emphasises the link between energy cultivation and the natural world, particularly seasonal cycles using the foundation of the Chinese Five Elements to support wellbeing.

Mark’s inspirations include Taoist sages, Buddhism, the beat poets, Joseph Campbell and William Morris.
